Mammoth Trading has had an exciting and busy year! In 2016, cofounder and president Richael Young took the plunge and began full-time work at Mammoth. We relocated upstream to Denver, Colorado to be in our own “central hub” of Western Water.

We expanded market activity to the South Platte Natural Resources District in western Nebraska and to the Roza Irrigation District in central Washington State. The Twin Platte Natural Resources District market remains active and secured trades for its third straight year.

We’ve undertaken great projects in the last year, investigating the state of informal agricultural water trading in the US West and providing a case study on the political economy of water markets. Mammoth has continued to generate interest from the press and received invitations to present at renowned conferences and events. A selection of our engagements in 2016 is listed below.

Today, Mammoth Trading celebrates three years (“Happy birthday!”, you say? Thank you!). We are proud to be advancing the state of water markets and helping rural communities put their water to its most productive uses. We would not be here today without the support and advice of our loved ones and colleagues.

Special thanks to our Advisory Board — Yusuke Kuwayama, Karina Schoengold, and Jed Taylor — for their guidance through exciting yet challenging transitions, and to you, our customers and partners, for an unforgettable year. We look forward to another full of adventure, learning, collaboration, and trading!
